Highway to the Sun
I'm quite new to Snowy White as I heard him for the first time at Roger
Waters' In The Flesh Tour in the summer of 2002. I liked the soft and bluesy sound of his Gibson Les Paul and decided to check out his discography...
Highway to the Sun was the fourth Snowy White album that I got and I like it a lot. It's a very laid back and unpolished album - something between the raw Blues Agency albums and the more polished Restless album. I have no real favourites on this album, as every track is very good. I'm sure Snowy White and co. was having a good time recording this album and it comes off on the listener. Chris Rea, David Gilmour and Gary Moore plays respectively slide- and lead guitar on three tracks, which makes this album even more fascinating.
As Snowy writes: I Can't Get Enough Of The Blues (track 11) and neither can I... :-)
Snowy White has occasionally re-issued old tracks on his albums - either in a new arrangement or in the original version as a bonus track. As for instance, track 5 (The Time has Come) on Highway to the Sun appears in a more polished version on the Restless album.
Highway to the Sun is one of the best albums I have bought for a very long time, and it continues to grow every time I hear it. Maybe this one is the very best Snowy White album up to now, so I can only recommend that you buy it immediately. This album is a must...
